Four seats are up for election for our Board of Directors.
Mark Arthofer (incumbent) | Dubuque, IA
Mark is the owner of Skyline Construction for the past 20 years. He has been a member of ACU for 55 years. He holds a BA in Business Administration from Clarke University.
After serving for the first year on the ACU Board, Mark has found the board members to be a very diverse group of individuals and discussions are very interesting and on point. Mark feels that with his personal experiences that he has brought a different perspective to the board being an owner of a business and would the opportunity to continue his board experience.
Vince Copeland (incumbent) | Burlington, IA
Vince is retired from Champion Spark Plug/Federal Mogul. He has been a member of the Credit Union for 40 years and has served on the ACU Board since 2015.
Vince was a member of Three I Credit Union prior to its merge with Alliant Credit Union in 2015 but prior to joining the ACU board, he served on the Three I Board for 15 years, 4 of which were as Board Chairman. Vince is interested in continuing to learn and to serve our members while also helping the credit union grow.
Ben Hanten | Dubuque, IA
Ben is a Maintenance Technician for Mediacom where he has been employed for 19 years. Ben is also self-employed running his own grounds maintenance company.
Ben currently serves on the Parks and Rec Board in Peosta as well as the Special Zoning Board in Peosta. Ben is interested in serving in the board as an opportunity to get to meet new people in the community and for the opportunity to move Alliant Credit Union further along.
Becky Jenkins (incumbent) | Dubuque, IA
Becky is just starting as an Accountant with Executive Management. Prior to her new position, she was the Financial Secretary for Westminster Presbyterian Church for the past three years. Becky received her BA in Accounting and Business Administration from the University of Dubuque.
Becky has been serving on the board for the past seven years and is currently the ACU Board Secretary. She is interested in continuing to serve the members of ACU by bringing her own experiences to the boardroom. As a mother of young children, she wants to ensure the credit union continues to succeed and grow along with her children.
Joseph Ross | Dubuque, IA
Joseph has been the President of Smart Beans Inc for the past 15 years and has been a member of ACU for 18 years. He is a Certified Public Accountant with a very deep financial reporting, financial planning, and financial systems experience. Prior to launching his own company, Joseph worked for Alliant Energy as a Shared Services Business Unit Controller.
Joseph is interested in running for the board as he has a keen interest in the health and well-being of ACU. Besides being a CPA, Joseph is also a Chartered Professional Accountant. He has served on the boards of the Treasury Management Association Chapter, Dubuque Little League/Pony League baseball and others. Joseph believes that his experience and financial acumen on the board of ACU will be very helpful to our Credit Union.
Vince Schuster (incumbent) | Dubuque, IA
Prior to retirement, Vince served as Director of Electrical Engineering for Interstate Power Company. He retired after 41 years of service. Vince has been a member of Alliant Credit Union for 62 years. Vince originally ran for the board in 1977 to change how dividends were being paid and has been a board member ever since.
Since retirement, Vince has done some consulting and has written several manuals for Lineman’s schools. Vince has always had a concern for our members; that they be treated fairly. He now has four sons and nine grandchildren who are ACU members.
Mark Seckman | Cedar Rapids, IA
Mark has worked for Alliant Energy for the past two years as the Senior Economic Development Manager and quickly joined ACU after starting with Alliant Energy. Mark has a strong business, marketing and economic factors background and feels his experience would be valuable to the staff, leadership and membership of the organization.
Mark firmly believes in the value and mission of credit unions. His first financial savings account was with the predecessor for Alliant Credit Union in the mid 1970’s. Mark feels that a membership owned financial institution is important to the communities they serve and the people they represent. He would enjoy the opportunity of taking Alliant CU to the next level.
